Carinne Malana

Autobiography

Art was not my first hobby.

Growing up, I lived a game with time management. I can thank my parents for that and I greatly appreciate them for everything they have done.

"Thank you."

My name is Carinne Malana (Cuh-Rin, not Karen) and I was born in the summer of 2001 in Sacramento, California. I am the youngest of 3 children and I have yet to experience the "spoiled child" syndrome of being the youngest, but there hasn't been any luck.

From the age of 4, my first hobby that I had ever picked up was softball. I thought, ate, and slept softball for a total of 8 years before an injury occurred, but still love the game. However because of travel-ball-softball, I have the opportunity to travel to a total of 22 states. I guess you can say that when travelling, you see the beauty of looking through a window rather than at a screen.

After the era of softball, I immersed myself in the arts from band geek, choir girl, and poster-maker in student body.

But, the take away from traveling was the experiences and the people that I met. Because of the long road trips and airplane rides, I spent an immense amount of time with my family. My favorite part about the trips besides stretching my legs at the gas station would be listening to my mom and dad tell stories about how they grew up. I took up a lot of inspiration from them throughout high school when I was taking my art and AP art courses.

Now, I am currently a freshman at the University of Pacific, studying Electrical Engineering and Studio Arts.
